Rona Serozan Foundation for Comparative Legal Research Scholarships
Rona Serozan Foundation for Comparative Legal Research Scholarship applications for the 2025-2026 academic year will start on February 15, 2025. The deadline for applications is April 30, 2025.
Rona Serozan Foundation for Comparative Legal Research awards scholarships to young academics at their doctoral or habilitation stages for a period of 1 to 6 months every year in order to encourage and support comparative law research, to contribute to the formation of a legal order worthy of a modern, democratic, social state of law, and especially to assist in the process of harmonization of the law of the country with the European Union law.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
In 2025, I will reach the age limit of 30 for doctoral scholarships / 38 for associate professorship scholarships. Am I still eligible to apply for the scholarship?
Yes. For the 2025–2026 academic year, candidates born on or after January 1, 1995 for doctoral scholarships, and on or after January 1, 1987 for associate professorship scholarships, are eligible to apply.
With respect to the eligibility requirement for the associate professorship scholarship stating that the PhD degree must have been obtained within the last three years, is maternity leave taken into consideration?
For candidates who have given birth after completing their doctorate, this period is extended to four years.
Which foreign language proficiency certificates are accepted for applications to the 2025–2026 Overseas Research Scholarships?
For applications, preferably in the language of the country to which the candidate intends to go, one of the following documents is accepted:
- A certificate showing that, within the last five years as of the application year, the candidate has obtained a minimum score of 65 in one of the YDS, e-YDS, or YÖKDİL exams, or within the last two years, has achieved an equivalent score in one of the foreign language exams recognized as equivalent by ÖSYM; or
- A diploma demonstrating that the candidate has completed undergraduate or postgraduate degree in the language of the country to which they intend to go, either at an institution in Türkiye where the entire program was conducted in the relevant foreign language, or abroad at an institution where the entire education was conducted in that language.

Scholarship Amounts
Research Fellowships in Turkey
- 20,000 TL per month for those in their PhD phase
- 25,000 TL per month for those in their habilitation stage
Research Fellowships Abroad
For countries using the Euro currency:
- EUR 1,200 per month for those in their PhD phase
- EUR 1,500 per month for those in their habilitation stage
For other countries:
- 1,300 USD per month for those in their PhD phase
- 1,600 USD per month for those in their habilitation stage
